Commuter and e-Mobility Helmet Design

The commuter and e-mobility helmet market is one of the most rapidly evolving segments in protective equipment. E-bike adoption is accelerating globally, micro-mobility platforms are expanding city by city, and regulatory frameworks, including EN 17232 for e-bikes, are introducing new performance requirements that traditional cycling helmets were never designed to meet. The result is a genuine design problem: helmets that need to work harder on impact protection while looking and feeling closer to lifestyle products than sport gear.
The concepts shown here explore that tension directly. The design priorities shift from pure performance — which governs most of my commercial sport protection work — toward the intersection of protection engineering, urban aesthetic, and everyday wearability. Key considerations across the work include: integrated visor and lighting systems, MIPS and rotational energy management architecture, coverage zones appropriate for higher-speed e-bike impacts, and CMF directions that read as premium lifestyle rather than sport equipment.
My protection engineering background developed across a decade of helmet work for Cascade and the broader lacrosse and baseball markets transfers directly to this category. I understand impact zone geometry, fit system architecture, and shell construction from the inside out. I'm actively looking to bring that foundation to brands working in the urban mobility space.
