The Cascade S and XRS helmets represent two generations of flagship men's lacrosse protection: both developed during my tenure as design lead at Cascade Maverik Lacrosse. The XRS immediately repositioned Cascade at the forefront of the category upon launch, prompting competitors to respond and earning strong adoption across all age groups.
Development on both helmets was led from the inside out: comfort, fit, and impact management first — aesthetics second. A central engineering challenge on the XRS was advancing Cascade's 7Tech impact management system, which required a new methodology for geometrically scaling the liner architecture across multiple headform sizes while maintaining consistent energy dispersion, fit, and performance. The resulting helmet delivered a significantly expanded fit range without compromising protection or comfort.
