Snow sports equipment design sits at a particularly demanding intersection of protection engineering, ergonomic performance, and lifestyle aesthetics. Helmets must balance EN 1077 impact compliance with goggle integration, ventilation architecture, and the bold visual language that defines the category. Boots require deep understanding of flex mechanics, liner construction, heat-molding systems, and the biomechanical demands of both carving and park riding. Bindings are perhaps the most technically complex piece, interface geometry, release values, retention systems, and the precise relationship between boot sole and binding plate all have to work together as a system under extreme dynamic loading.
The work shown here spans all three product types across ski and snowboard applications. It begins with sketch exploration across helmet typologies and boot and binding concepts, moves through individual concept developments, and closes with two larger fully developed concepts that explore the category at greater depth, including CMF development, multi-angle presentations, and system-level thinking about how helmet, boot, and binding design languages can speak to each other within a coherent brand family.
I'm actively seeking engagement across the snow sports category. If you're a brand working on helmet, boot, or binding development and want a designer who brings both engineering rigor and strong concept execution, reach out at mike@chmelikdesign.com.
